This sugar free and vegan Citrus Green Smoothie is the perfect way to start the day. Loaded with a generous helping of fresh greens and infused with oranges and walnuts. Made in partnership with Daisey Fresh.
We love smoothies year-round, but I have to tell you – I have come to enjoying winter smoothies much more than warm weather smoothies. This probably sounds totally backwards right?
I think it has to do with the fact that in the warmer months, fresh produce of all varieties are abundant and we are constantly eating salads, raw veggies and lightly cooked veggies. In the winter, there are not as many choices and while I do have the occasional salad, I tend to go for warm foods and cooked vegetables when it’s cold out.
But, I love raw greens and keeping my greens fresh is something I am obsessed with. Nothing bugs me more than spending a chunk of change on organic greens and watching them turn in just a few days. There is something so nasty about the smell of rotting or wet baby greens. It seriously skeeves me out!
About a year and a half ago, I started using Daisey Fresh filters in my produce drawers. Daisey Fresh is an all-natural eco-filter that absorbs excess moisture and ethylene gas, which are the main causes of produce decay and spoilage. I have found that my produce lasts about 2x as long with the filters.
They are very inexpensive (under $10 for a starter kit). I partnered with Daisey Fresh to tell you about them because it is not only a product that I love and use in my own kitchen but a product that saves me money. Therefore, I want you to know about it!
A fresh green smoothie in the winter is like a blast of raw veggies and that’s what I love the most about it. I think you are going to really dig this easy smoothie recipe!
