5 Popular gluten-free Thanksgiving desserts that will make your guests swoon! A collection of the very best healthier desserts for your holiday table!
1. The most LEGIT Paleo Pumpkin Pie in all the Land
Pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie is an absolute M-U-S-T for many Thanksgiving dessert tables! In our family, it’s almost always pumpkin pie. My paleo pumpkin pie is perfect! It legit tastes like a regular old pumpkin pie. Nobody ever thinks it’s gluten-free, dairy-free, or refined sugar-free. They just always say, “This is a great pumpkin pie!” Oh, and it travels really well if you need to bring a dessert to someone else’s home!
2. Apple Cranberry Crisp
Apple crisp is a classic but this apple cranberry version is grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and only sweetened with pure maple syrup! Nothing that anyone will notice. The combination of maple syrup and dried cranberries gives off just enough sweetness and everyone always fights over the crispy topping! Great as a make-ahead and take-along dessert OR make in advance and reheat to serve! I should let you know that this is excellent with vanilla ice cream.
3. Gluten-Free Coffee Cake
This is a good one! For as long as I can remember, there has been a sour cream coffee cake at nearly every special occasion courtesy of my Mom. Her sour cream coffee cake is legendary and she finally let me tweak the recipe to be gluten-free. See that swirl in the middle? That is cinnamon-sugar. You’re welcome. Now, go and print that bad boy off. Bonus: you can make this up to 2 days in advance!
4. Maple Pecan Brownies
There are some families that have brownies at every holiday. If that sounds like an idea you are down with, these maple pecan brownies are a gluten-free treasure. They are rich, chocolatey, and scream Fall flavors! If you have extra time and want to get fancy, you can arrange the pecans on top in a pattern. And, you can make these up to 2 days in advance and store in a cookie tin.
5. Spiralized Apple Pie Topping
This is a 5-minute dessert topping to make serving ice cream super fancy. You spiralize apples and quickly cook them with butter or Ghee, some spices and walnuts. The end result is a mashup between apple pie and wet nuts. Excellent over dairy or non-dairy ice cream. We have also been known to enjoy over Butter Pecan.
Which one (or more!) of these Thanksgiving desserts will you add to your menu? I can’t wait to hear about it!
Happy Thanksgiving, xo alyssa
